Shipping & Payment policies

We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and even cash/etransfer for local orders.

Most bags are made to order, so processing time will vary depending on time of year and how busy we are, typically anywhere from 1 week in the fall to 10+ weeks in spring/summer. If you need it by a certain time please check in beforehand and include the date in your order notes. Keep in mind that lots of people plan trips around the same dates, so if possible consider ordering well in advance.

All orders are shipped via Canada Post from our little studio in Vancouver, BC. International orders will be delivered by your local postal service. You can check shipping prices at checkout before confirming payment, but in general Canadian shipping will be anywhere from CAD$15–35, US shipping will be CAD$25 (US$20), and international CAD$50+ (US$40+) I think? We used to offer a cheaper international option but it went by boat and took anywhere from 4–12 weeks without tracking which was a hassle. Now our cheapest overseas option is Air 12 days without tracking. Hope that is ok.

CAD and US deliveries usually take 5–10 days, EU 12 days, other destinations maybe 14 days. But delays can and do happen and are out of our control so please order well in advance or upgrade shipping if you need something by a specific time.

We'll email a confirmation once we've shipped, so if you haven't heard anything we're still working on it, or indeed still working on orders that were ahead of yours in the queue. Apologies, it can get pretty busy and we're a very small shop.

Patches ship as standard lettermail, usually dropped into the mail 1–2 days after you order.

I have a trip coming up soon... will my bag make it in time?

Probably! Let us know what you have planned and we'll do our best to make it happen.

Which fabric should I choose?

For ultralight and a more waterproof technical look go with the ECOPAK. For something a bit more rugged but less waterproof, 1000D Cordura is great. For great durability and a classic aesthetic that’ll look better and better as it ages, waxed canvas is really nice.

Are your bags waterproof?

While ECOPAK is a waterproof fabric and its waterproofing should last the lifetime of the product, we don't tape the seams so it's possible water will wick in along the seams or stitching if you're caught in an extended downpour.

Cordura and waxed canvas are both water-resistant with PU/DWR coatings and/or impregnated waxes but will eventually wet out over time or given enough rain.

So short answer is no, not waterproof, but should still keep your stuff dry under most circumstances. But if you're carrying valuables or sensitive electronics some sort of pack liner or plastic bag would be recommended.

How do I take care of my bag?

Our bags are rugged and can take a fair amount of abuse. But to help extend its life don’t force the zippers and always clear grit off them before trying to open/close the bag. Make sure the bag is thoroughly dry before putting it away (but also keep it away from an exposed heat source). After a while you may wish to re-wax the canvas, in which case something like Otter Wax is nice.

Can I wash my bags?

If it's fully caked in mud you can take it outside and hose it off. If it just needs spot cleaning then warm water and a damp rag should suffice. Either way make sure it has fully air dried afterwards. Please don't use harsh detergents or soaps as they may damage the waxes and waterproof coatings, and pls pls pls do not put it in the washing machine or dryer.

Do you do custom orders?

Maybe! Depends on how busy we are and what you have in mind. Feel free to drop us an email with your ideas and we can start from there.

Where are your bags made?

All our bags and patches were designed and manufactured right here in our little studio in Vancouver, BC. Even the t-shirt was screen printed only a few blocks away.

Can I visit your studio?

Mmmno. We call it a studio but it's actually just a (very messy) living room.

Warranty & Repairs

To the best of our ability we will repair your bag for the duration of its lifetime at no cost to you. We just ask that you pay for shipping & handling.

Field & Forest bags come with a 1 year warranty against manufacturer defects, in which case we will either repair or replace the bag at our discretion and reimburse the cost of shipping. This does not cover damage caused by normal wear and tear, accident, lost or stolen items, or improper care.

Returns & Exchanges

We're proud of our bags and hope you will be too. If for whatever reason you are unhappy with your purchase please let us know.

Non-custom items can be returned for a refund within 30 days if it is unused and in the same condition that you received it. Custom orders are not eligible for returns, refunds, or exchanges due to the investment of time and materials. Please take this into consideration when placing an order for any custom products. If you are returning an item worth over $75 please consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance, as we can't guarantee that we will receive your returned item. Please contact us before returning an item.
