Frequently asked questions

Shipping policies

All orders are shipped via Canada Post from our little studio in Vancouver, BC. We try to get standard orders into the mail within a week and custom orders within two weeks, but lead times vary week-to-week so we'll let you know if your order might be a little delayed. We'll email you tracking info once we've shipped, so if you haven't heard anything we're still working on it.

Patches are usually dropped into the mail the same day you order, shipped as standard lettermail.

I have a trip coming up soon... will my bag make it in time?

Probably! Let us know what you have planned and we'll do our best to make it happen.

Which fabric should I choose?

For around town, great durability, and a classic aesthetic, waxed canvas is really nice. For something a bit more rugged that'll hold up better in wet climates, 1000D nylon is great. For ultralight and a more waterproof technical look go with the X-Pac.

What's with all the "preorder" options?

Well, we're a small shop, and stocking fabric is expensive and takes up a lot of space. One way we're tying to solve this is to offer a decent amount of options but stock them only as needed. The bad news is that it can add up to 2–4 weeks processing time as we wait for the fabric to arrive. The good news is that we'll buy extra so the next person won't have to wait as long.

Are your bags waterproof?

Cordura and waxed canvas are both water-resistant but will eventually wet out given enough rain. X-Pac itself is fully waterproof, but we don't factory tape the seams so its possible water will wick in if you're caught in an extended downpour. You can always try sealing the seams yourself with Seam Grip or simply make sure to carry your valuables in a little ziplock bag for added protection.

How do I take care of my bag?

Our bags are rugged and can take a fair amount of abuse. But to help extend its life, make sure it is thoroughly dry before putting it away (but also keep it away from an exposed heat source). After a while you may wish to re-wax the canvas, in which case Otter Wax is nice.

Can I wash my bags?

If it's fully caked in mud you can take it outside and hose it off. If it just needs spot cleaning then warm water and a damp rag should suffice. Either way make sure it has fully air dried afterwards. Please don't use harsh detergents or soaps as they may damage the waxes and waterproof coatings, and pls pls pls do not put it in the washing machine or dryer.

Do you do custom orders?

Maybe! Depends on how busy we are and what you have in mind. Feel free to drop us an email with your ideas and we can start from there.

Stockists / ordering wholesale

We're only juuust starting out so don't have any dealers yet. If you own a shop and want to carry some of our products, we'd love to hear from you.

Where are your bags made?

All our bags and patches were designed and made right here in our little East Vancouver studio. Even the T-shirt was screen printed only a few blocks away.

Can I visit your studio?

Mmmno. We call it a studio but it's actually just our living room.

Carbon footprint & giving back

We donate a portion of every sale to local and national organizations working to preserve our parks, our wild spaces, and our environment. We also offset carbon emissions of shipping through the Gold Standard, which helps create sustainable development benefits for communities around the world.

Warranty & Returns

We're proud of our bags and hope you will be too. If for whatever reason you are unhappy with your purchase please let us know.

Non-custom items can be returned within 30 days if it is unused and in the same condition that you received it. Custom orders or items that have been used or kept longer than 30 days can also be returned if you think a manufacturing mistake was made, in which case we will either repair or replace it at our discretion. This does not cover damage caused by normal wear and tear, accident, lost or stolen items, or improper care. You will be responsible for paying all shipping and handling costs for returning your item, except in the event of a manufacturing mistake or materials failure in which case we will reimburse the cost of return shipping. If you are shipping an item worth over $75 please consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance, as we can't guarantee that we will receive your returned item. Please contact us before returning an item.
